Department of Telecom (DoT) has started toll-free number 1955 to report complaint regarding Call Drops/ Weak Signal for all telecom (BSNL/ Vodafone/ Idea/ MTS/ Docomo/ Airtel/ Jio/ MTNL etc.). This is an IVRS 1955 helpline to support consumer facing “CALL DROPS” related problems.
The Cellular Operators Association of India said that the telecom industry has asked Govt. for 1955 technical routing, charges.
Report Call Drops on 1955 Process
If you are facing call drops while calling to any operator ie. BSNL/ Airtel/ Vodafone/ Idea/ Telenor/ MTS etc. You can use toll-Free number 1955 (IVRS System) and report the same.
1955 IVRS Call/ SMS
When you call the 1955 (toll-free) number, then your CLI (Caller Line Identification) is send to the DoT, where you can submit your call drops complaint.
How does Govt take action >>> The 1955 number is launched by Department of Telecom, Govt of India to support the consumer facing call drops issues. After calling or SMS the technical team get your call details ie. Number of time call was droped at your end or on the other end. Signal strength/ network congestion etc.
Benefits of 1955 IVRS System
Definitely, 1955 Toll-Free IVRS system has benefit to the consumer. Based on your reports the Govt give scores the the telecom operator, if signal strength are weak or congestion is there, the Govt ask operator to install more mobile towers in your area.
According to the recent survey, the RJIO has increased their customer userbase to 6 crore 20 lakh (on number 7). The Airtel is on the top of list with more than 25 crore customer. Every day, more than 1 crore call drops.
