Reliance JIO 4G data and Free Calls may soon be Suspended by TRAI
Reliance JIO continued to be in News this week also but this time, it is not a good news for Reliance JIO Infocomm. Ltd. (RJIL). In a fresh row of events, Reliance JIO Infocomm. Ltd (RJIL) is accused of gross violation of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Rules and a probe has been ordered to examine the charges.
Actually, from the day of its inception, Reliance JIO is in fierce battle with its rivals Airtel, Vodafone, Idea etc., Since JIO is claiming the piece of pie which has been shared by these Indian telecom giants and therefore be it be an issue of POI (Points of Interconnection) or free 4G data, they are the end result of this market rivalry. But in a fresh row Vodafone, Airtel and Idea together wrote a letter and accused RJIL of following violations :
As per the TTO (Telecommunication Tariff Order) of 2004, tariffs imposed by telecom operators must compliant with IUC, which is a fee (14 p/min) payable to an operator for receiving calls from another network. According to Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, offering voice service for free would be less than IUC charge, in turn a violation of Telecommunication Tariff Order of TRAI.
Another highlighted point was Jio’s promotional offer, which exceeds the 90-day limit even if the start date is considered as September 5. In Jio’s defence, the new telco considers these offerings as a “special benefit” to consumers rather than a “promotional offer” to be considered as a violation of TRAI’s regulations.
Reliance JIO 4G Net & Free Calls Violates TRAI rules headlines are floating in the market rapidly and What would be the end result of this controversy, That will an interesting thing to see. But it is for sure that Indian telecom giants are obviously not having a good time with new entrant Reliance JIO Infocomm. Ltd. (RJIL). As per the speculations, Penalty on Reliance JIO may be imposed if found guilty of violating TRAI rules.
